How To Join a Windows PC in TCP/IP Domain (LAN)?
A Domain network may be private (LAN) or public
(Internet). All domain networks have Domain Controllers. To connect a PC in
domain following steps are used:
I Part:
1.
Startà Run: ncpa.cpl
2.
LAN Connection/Ethernet Controller à Right Click à Properties
3.
Select “TCP/IP” or IPv4 Ã Properties
4.
Type the IP protocol settings for:
a.
Machine IP Address (matching with the LAN net id)
b.
Subnet Mask
c.
Gateway IP Address
d.
DNS Server IP Address
5.
OK & Finish
II Part:
1.
Start à Run: sysdm.cpl
2.
Computer Nameà Change
3.
Domain: “Saraswati.com”
4.
OK, Finish & Restart the PC
Now being a domain member, machine can send login
requests to domain controller (Windows 2003 Advance Sever). We can connect to
home folders, we can access other shared resources like printer, web sites and
shared software & files/folders.
