Telnet
Telnet is an application layer standard in TCP/IP protocols suite. It is a client/server technology used for remote login. Telnet supports dialup networking as well direct networking to enable remote connections between the multi-users systems such as Unix and Linux etc.
An important application of Telnet is Terminal Emulation, which means enabling a DOS or Windows PC to connect to Linux/Unix multi-user system for remote login/connection.
The part of the Telnet which runs on our local-hosts is called Telnet client. For example, Telnet and Hyperterm etc.
The part of the Telnet which runs on our network-sever all the time in the background is called Telnet Server Daemon. For example, Telnet protocol.
