What is a Compact Disc?
Abbreviated as CD, a compact disc is a flat round storage medium that is read by a laser in a CD-ROM drive. The standard CD is capable of holding 80 minutes of music or 700 MB of data. A 52x CD is now the standard media for mass storage. (52x mean rpm is 52 times more than a floppy).
What is a DVD?
Short for either Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc, DVD or DVD-ROM is a type of disc drive that allows for large amounts of data on one disc the size of a standard Compact Disc. DVD drives are widely used for storing and viewing movies and other data. To play a DVD on a computer a user must have a DVD drive as well as a DVD player.
What is CD-R?
Also known as WORM (Write Once Read Many) drive. CD-R is short for CD-Recordable and is a type of writable disc and drive that is capable of having information written to the disc once and then having that disc read many times after that. If the data is not written to the disc properly, has errors, or has the incorrect information that disc or portions of that disc cannot be erased.
What is a VCD?
Also known as VideoCD, VCD is a concept introduced in 1993 by Philips, JVC and Sony that allows for the storage of MPEG-1 (now MPEG-2/4) video on a CD-ROM. Each VCD is capable of holding up to 74 minutes of video on a 680MB CD.
What is CD-R/W?
CD-R/W is short for CD-Re-Writable and is a type of storage disc and drive that is capable of having information written to the disc as well erasing the data.
What is an Audio CD?
Also commonly known as a music CD, an audio CD is any compact disc that contains audio tracks that enable the user to listen to music, speeches, books on tape, or any type of audio.
What is a CD player?
Program or hardware device used to play and listen to standard audio CDs.
Example: WinAmp, Windows Media Player, Real Player etc.
What is a DVD player?
A Program or hardware device used to play and listen to more advanced form of audio and video DVDs.
Example: WinAmp, Windows Media Player 10/11, VLC, GOM Player and Classic Media Player (123) etc.
What is ISO Image?
An ISO image or ISO file is a computer file that contains the complete contents of a CD, DVD, or other disc or disk (HDD/FDD/ZipDisks). ISO images are often created an exact backup a CD or distribute CDs over the Internet or other networks.
LiveCD
The name of compact discs that contain an operating system and often other programs, that are capable of running on the computer without having to be installed or the need of a hard disk drive.
For example, many Linux distributions are available in LiveCD format allowing Microsoft Windows users to experiment with Linux without having to erase Windows.
RESQUE DISK
The application includes a service allowing to create a resque disk.
The resque disk is designed to restore system functionality after a virus attack that damaged system files of the operating system and made impossible to startup This disk includes Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 system files a set of operating system diagnostic utilities, application files, files containing application databases
Resque disk is designed to be used only on the computer that it was created on. Using the disk on other computers could lead to unforeseeable consequences since it contains information about the parameters of a specific computer (info on boot sectors, for example) You can only create a resque disk under Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Vista You cannot create a resque
Disk on computers running Microsoft Windows XP Professional xB4 Edition or Microsoft Windows Vista xt4
CREATING A RESCUE DISK
You need the Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 installation disk to create a rescue disk
You need the program PE Builder to create the Rescue Disk.
You must install these PE Builder on your computer beforehand to create an emergency disk with it
The Wizard consists of a series of windows (steps) navigated using buttons Back and Next, to close the Wizard once it completed its
work, use the Finish button To cancel the wizard at any stage use the Cancel button
To start the wizard:
1. Open main application Window
2. Select the Anti-Malware Section in the left part of the window.
3. Stan the Rescue Disk task.
USING THE RESCUE DISK
Note that the application only works in system rescue mode if the main Window is running When you close the main
window, the program will close
Ban PE, the default program, does not support chm files or Internet browsers, so you will not be able to view the
application's Help or links in the program interface while in Rescue Mode
If a situation arises when a Virus attack makes it impossible to load the operating system, take the following steps.
1.Create an emergency recovery disk using the application installed on a computer that is not infected
2.Insert the emergency recovery disk in the disk drive of the infected computer and restart. Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack
2 will staff with the Ban PE interface
Bart PE has built-in network support for using your LAN. When the application starts, it Will ask you if you want to enable it
Agree to enable network support if you plan to update databases from the LAN before scanning your computer. If you do not
need to update, cancel enabling network support.
3.To launch the application, execute command START*Programs Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009—9 Start.
This Will start the main application Window. In system rescue mode, you can only access virus scans and application
databases updates from the LAN (if have enabled network support in Bart PE
4.Start the virus scan.
Note that databases from the date that the rescue disk is created are used by default. For this reason, we
recommend updating databases before starting the scan
It should also be noted that the application will only use the updated databases during the current session with
the rescue disk, prior to restarting your computer
If infected or potentially infected objects were detected when you scanned the computer, and they were processed and
then moved to Quarantine or Backup Storage, we recommend completing processing those objects during the current
session with a rescue disk
Otherwise, these objects will be lost when you restart computer.
What is Nero?
Nero is an integrated software utility package available with CD and DVD writer devices. This software can be installed and use on Windows platform only. In this software package following tools are available.
1. Nero Start Smart:- It is the central starting point for all your audio, video, backup, and recording tasks.
2. Nero Vision:-It is the video editing and authoring software.
3. Nero Media Home:-It allows you to stream videos, music, and images to all your UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) enabled devices and to Nero ShowTime.
Some other products in this package are: Cover Designer, Burning ROM, SoundTrax and Wave editor etc.
Steps To Transfer Data to CD/DVD

A Compact Disc or Digital Video Disc is required special hardware and software to be written for data, files and software etc.
Step1- A CD-R/W (CD-Writer) Drive or DVD-R/W (DVD-Writer) Drive in PC system
Step2- Nero or any other CD/DVD burning application software present in Windows.
Step3- Run the Nero
Step4- Insert Blank CD/DVD in Drive
Step5- Select the type of CD/DVD that you want to write e.g., Data CD, Audio CD, Video CD or Image
Step6- Add files that you want to transfer to CD/DVD
Step7- Next
Step8- Specify the target location (i.e., CD/DVD drive E:, F: etc)
or
Select the "image" action if you want to transfer the same some time later on.
Step-9 Multisession-->Burn
Step10- CD/DVD burning process will be shown visually
Step11- CD/DVD will be ejected out automatically on successful burning
